A presentation given by Justin Hunt, Stellantis, at the 2024 Great Designs in Steel. Project objective was to assess zinc coating removal as a method to mitigate LME cracking in 980 3rd Generation steel GMAW plug joints and to determine the effects of GMAW plug joint hole diameter and filler metal grade on joint strength, relative to baseline resistance spot welding.
